CYCLE
The Gibbs Reflective Cycle is a simple procedure that involves individuals reflecting on and taking insights from the many experiences they had encountered throughout a particular activity or comparable circumstance (Adeani et al., 2020); because of its circular pattern, it accommodates itself well to repeated encounters, enabling individuals to reflect and improve from both positive and negative encounters that occurred (Markkanen et al., 2020). For my Gibbs Reflective Cycle, I will be reflecting on my first assessment for Marketing in Practice, which is my research journey.
DESCRIPTION
The assessment was given and explained in an online class session on January 31st; it was a typical Monday morning. The task was to choose between two options; option one was to explore a pathway-relevant role or career, and option two was to explore a current business opportunity or challenge. Exploring must include the use of primary and secondary data to support the claims or explorations made during the research. O chose to explore a pathway-relevant career because I wanted to know more about the diverse field of marketing and how it works. When our tutor discussed this online, I was kind of sleepy, so I did not fully understand it at first, but I asked Ms. Arooj about it afterwards, and it cleared everything up.
FEELINGS
As mentioned in the description, I was first confused about the assessment because I was not fully paying attention. When Ms. Arooj clarified my concerns, I was relieved because I knew what to do. It was clear for me to choose option number one; the next challenge was finding the right person to interview, not only any marketing professional but someone who has the skills and experience I was looking for. We were tasked to create a LinkedIn profile to help us find someone, but I did not see anyone available that fits into my personal criteria, so it was a little disappointing. Suddenly, my mom told me that one of our closest family friends from church is a CRM manager for Al-Futtaim Automotive, and my spirits lifted instantly. Everything from that point was hassle-free, I interviewed him at his home after office hours, and I got all the information I needed.
EVALUATION
To evaluate the overall journey of this research, I faced multiple challenges and accomplishments along the way.
ANALYSIS
The overall results of this journey were a success; however, there could have been a few improvements. Maybe I could have learned more about marketing if I had interviewed another professional with a different position. Moreover, the time given was not enough for me to interview another individual; but my time management skills need improvement. Lastly, I did not utilize LinkedIn to find a suitable professional for an interview, and I could have used software to make the transcript to save time.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, to be better, I must be better at managing my time and finishing a task to increase credible content, improving my overall marketing knowledge. I must regularly use LinkedIn or Indeed because it will be helpful for me in the future. In making transcripts, I should use software that automatically transforms audio into text to save time.
